Library Construction – September 14-26, 2026
**UPDATE: As of September 28th at 9:30am, the library building is back open as normal!**
The library building will be closed to the public for construction work on the front entry and plaza between September 14th and September 26th.
Limited curbside services will be available during the following times:
Monday, September 14th 9:30-6:00
Tuesday, September 15th 9:30-6:00
Wednesday, September 16th 9:30-6:00
Thursday, September 17th 9:30-2:00 (all city buildings close early for a city employee event)
Friday, September 18th 9:30-6:00
Saturday, September 19th 10:00-2:00
Monday, September 21st 9:30-6:00
Tuesday, September 22nd 9:30-6:00
Wednesday, September 23rd 9:30-6:00
Thursday, September 24th 9:30-6:00
Friday, September 25th 9:30-6:00
Saturday, September 26th 10:00-2:00
Library Programs
Many of the library’s programs will continue in alternate locations. Please see the library events calendar for updated location information.
During the above times, patrons will be able to:
• Request books and materials for checkout
• Return books and materials
• Print on demand
• Ask reference questions and for reading suggestions
• Attend library programs at a nearby location
Services that will not be available during the closure:
• Library computers
• Meeting rooms
• Indoor seating and use of indoor space
• Bathrooms
• Archival and in-library use materials
• After-hours book drop
Curbside check-in and check-out
• Weather-permitting, library staff will be available during curbside hours on the Miller St. lawn to accept returns and retrieve books and materials from in the library
• In adverse weather, please call 207-338-3884 for service
• Books can be pulled from the library on demand. To avoid a wait, patrons can call in advance or email a list to ask@belfastlibrary.org with an anticipated pickup time
• Hold requests from other libraries will continue as usual
Printing
Print jobs can be emailed as an attachment to belfastlibraryprinter@gmail.com
The body of the email should contain the following information:
– Number of copies
– Single sided or double sided
– Black and white (10 cents per page) or color (25 cents per page)
– Anticipated pickup time
– A phone number in case of questions about the print job.
Jobs sent without the above information will be printed one copy, single sided, and black and white.
Print jobs must be paid for in cash. Exact change is appreciated!
Staff will respond to the email when the job is complete with a total cost. Patrons can pick up and pay during curbside hours with staff on Miller St. in good weather, or in adverse weather can call 207-338-3884.
