Genealogy group~ One Name Study: Learoyd

In genealogy circles, a one name study (ONS) is focused on one surname and its variants, with the aim of gathering every mention of the name in records. Join the Maine State Library’s Genealogy Reference Specialist, B.J. Jamieson, for a discussion about her study tracing the name Learoyd, heavily focused on the Bradford/Huddersfield area of Yorkshire and in northeastern Massachusetts.

She will talk about why people did/didn’t move, as well as the kinds of records the mobile and stationary branches of the family left. Whether you’re interested in completing your own one name study, or just interested in genealogy methodology, all are welcome!
