Mum’s the Word: A Wartime Tale of Secrets, Intrigue, Rescue, and Daring, With a Genealogical Connection
October 18, 2023 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Event Navigation
Last February, Rick Davis told the story of James Monroe Munyon, perhaps the most famous patent medicine salesman in America. This time, Davis will spin a wartime tale involving Curtiss Munyan, a (sub)Marine, Missionaries, Manufacturers, a Message, a Merchant, a Mystery, a Mission, Mines (actually depth charges), and General Douglas MacArthur. Although this story includes (formerly) top-secret information, it’s okay to tell others about it. Don’t miss the intrigue!
All are welcome! These meetings are now in a hybrid format with the option to join in-person in the Abbott Room or to join online over Zoom. To receive the Zoom link or for more information, please email Sharon Pietryka at [email protected].
(For those interested in the story of James Monroe Munyon, the recording of Davis’s presentation from February 2023 is available on the Belfast Free Library’s YouTube channel.
