Inequality in the distribution of income and wealth is rising around the world, both within and across countries.  A number of economic and political factors are driving this trend, among them technological change, globalization, and the concentration of political power among the most privileged.  Deepening inequality between poor and rich exacerbates political polarization and fuels authoritarian populist movements.  Why is economic inequality rising, what are its effects, and what can we do about it?  For more information
