Event Series: Revolutionary Maine

Members of Belfast Senior College’s “History with Pizzazz” study group celebrate our nation’s 250th anniversary with tales of ordinary people from Belfast and across Maine who experienced extraordinary events during the Revolution. They tell of seamen turned privateers with the blessing of the Continental Congress and of Wabanakis who embraced the Patriot cause. They speak of resolute women who defied female standards of decorum in times of trouble. They track the fate of long-suffering families who evacuated Belfast in 1779 after British forces decimated the American fleet sent to destroy the Loyalist stronghold at Castine.

Speakers include Deb Douthart, Barbara Ford-Latty, Rick Gatewood and Spencer Stephens.

We invite you to this FREE and open to the public presentation by the History with Pizzazz Study Group, Tuesday, June 30 at 3:30 PM at the Belfast Free Library. Registration is not required but is greatly appreciated. Seating limited to 75.
