Welcome to the Teen’s Page!

The BFL Teen Room welcomes all young people ages 11 – 17. Designed with the help of a local Teen Advisory Board, this multipurpose area features our Young Adult collection, computers, and comfortable spaces for work and socialization.

Button-making

Design your own or choose from a selection of printed or recycled images and make a button using the library’s button-making machine!

Teen writing table

Once again, come gather with your fellow teen writers! At the Writing Table, you can share your work or simply use the quiet space to hang-out and write in a relaxed and non-judgmental space. This is a non-instructional program meant only to facilitate a safe and cozy writing environment. No homework, no pressure! Notebooks and prompts will be provided.

Youth Poetry Contest

April is poetry month!

The Belfast Free Library invites all Youth in Waldo County to write and submit a poem for the April Youth Poetry Contest!

This year’s theme:

Where the Land Meets the Sea: Poems about Home, Saltwater, and Soil

Judged by the Belfast Poet Laureate

Poems are to be submitted in person or by email. Include your name, age, school, and contact information. The deadline is April 30, 2026.

In-person submissions can be brought to the Children’s Circulation Desk on the 2nd Floor of the Belfast Free Library. Email submissions can be sent to sholman@belfastlibrary.org.

A Poetry Reception will be held Monday, May 4th at 4:00pm. All are welcome!

There will be 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place prizes in Younger and Teen categories. Winners will be announced and presented their prize at the Poetry Reception.

DIY Scrapbook

Create your own scrapbook from scratch! Scrapbooking supplies will be provided (misc. paper, recycled magazines, glue, and more!) with printing available. Bring your own photos and emphemera.
