Sometimes it takes a gentle nudge or a friendly shove to take your art to the next level. Beginning painting at 65, I felt the need to replicate things in my painting. A wonderful teacher,
Kris Engman, encouraged me to move away from the representational painting, and find something which was very natural for me. Being a fan of jigsaw puzzles, I gravitated toward shapes easily, and found photoshop to be the tool I was looking for. I’ll show a brief explanation of how I make the move from a photograph to an abstract landscape and share some mental tools that might help others.
