Incorporating Native Plants into Shade Gardens

Heather McCargo, founder and executive director of Wild Seed Project, will demonstrate how native plants can enhance shady yards at a Belfast Garden Club talk Tuesday October 16 from 2 to 3 p.m. at the Belfast Free Library. Shady areas can prove challenging in home and business landscapes, leaving gardeners struggling to coax plants to grow in minimal light. McCargo’s illustrated talk will depict beautiful native species that thrive in full shade and semi-shade and require no watering or fertilizing. Many of the native plants she’ll introduce also support pollinators.
