Elizabeth Peavey Talk and Workshop

Maine author Elizabeth Peavey will offer an 11 a.m. talk titled The Best Truth: Honesty vs. Truth in Memoir; and a 1 to 3 p.m. workshop titled Memoir Writing: Learning To Tell Your Life Stories. Both will take place in the dance annex at Waterfall Arts, 256 High St., and are made possible by support from the Friends of the Belfast Free Library and Waterfall Arts.

The talk is free and open to the public; pre-registration is required for the writing workshop after, which has a $10 fee. During her talk, Peavey will explore the challenges of first finding and then telling the truth in memoir — as we all know, memory is subjective, selective and downright slippery. A Q&A period will follow during which audience members will be encouraged to weigh in on these topics and share their insights.
