Film: The Mask You Live In

The Mask You Live In follows boys and young men as they struggle to stay true to themselves while negotiating America’s narrow definition of masculinity. From the director of the award-winning documentary Miss Representation comes a film that looks at gender stereotypes and ultimately illustrates how we, as a society, can raise a healthier generation of boys and young men.

A community discussion will follow the film lead by a representative from New Hope for Women; Lindsey Piper, nurse practitioner at Mabel Wadsworth Women’s Health Center ; and Nicolle Littrell, filmmaker and women’s, gender, and sexuality studies faculty at UMaine.
The event is co-sponsored by BelFem, a new group in Belfast focused on issues pertaining to gender.
