How The Beatles Changed Everything
with Neal Harkness
When the Beatles first arrived on the music scene, they were hailed as innovators. But, beyond their own achievements as writers, performers, and recording artists, they had a profound effect on world culture. We will listen to examples of the influence they had on other musicians and discuss how they changed not just the course of popular music but also examine the influence they had in film, fashion, politics and other areas, from haircuts to hare krishna.
Our presenter, Neal Harkness has been a fan and student of American popular music his whole life. He has written on the subject for a number of publications and was a rock music programmer on community radio station WERU-FM. Neal’s courses on the history of rock and roll have been very popular at Senior College in Belfast.
